The Hellhole Gravel Grind is not just a gravel race.. It’s a 2-day gravel stage race with prologue! Held in Hellhole swamp, Francis Marion National Forest, Cordesville, SC, Hell hole offers a 1-day race or a 2-day stage race option over some of the gnarliest unmaintained roads in the Southeast. The forest is named for the revolutionary war hero Francis Marion, who was known to the British as the Swamp Fox. He used these swamps, creeks and forest areas to ambush and hide from the British and was depicted in the movie “The Patriot”.
